Aldi: voted top brand and now voted best supermarket
Last month we reported that Aldi ranked the top brand according to YouGov’s buzz scores.
Aldi has now been voted the UK’s favourite supermarket following research conducted by Which?. In the report, Which? stated that Aldi has knocked ‘Waitrose from the top spot’, which they held for three years. Which? ranked nine of the major supermarkets by surveying 6800 members of the public about their experience of supermarkets’ range of products, quality of fresh and own-label products, store appearance, queuing time and value for money.
Which?’s explain that they calculate the customer scores by asking people ‘how they were their supermarket, and whether they would recommend it to a friend’.
See the image below for the ranking of the nine supermarkets:
From examining the table some key conclusion can be drawn:
– Aldi and Lidl are the only two supermarkets that have been given 5 stars for ‘value fo money
– No supermarket was ranked 5 stars for queuing time
– M&S and Waitrose were given 5 stars for ‘store appearance’ ‘quality of own-label products’ and ‘quality of fresh products’
– Waitrose was ranked the lowest for value for money, which caused their drop in the table
