Delieveroo open up more tech jobs as demand increases

Deliveroo are opening up 250 new technology positions. The roles include: data scientists, software engineers, product designers and specialists in cyber security, The Independent reported.

The large number of new job positions is part of the company’s UK expansion. Deliveroo stated that the increase in technology jobs is a result of the growth in volumes in the past 12 months.

As reported by the FT, Wil Shu (CEO) stated that the ‘highly-skilled new hires will join the incredible tea, building technology that motors Deliveroo’.

The FT’s report adds further details about Deliveroo and tech start-ups in general:

– The company’s current UK workforce is 1100 people

– Their rivals include UberEATS and Just Eat

– Deliveroo is one of Europe’s best-funded start-ups. In September it raised $385 m from investors

– Deliveroo’s decision to open up more technical roles in the UK comes at a time when other tech startups are putting in place contingency plans around the uncertainty around post-Brexit policies on hiring workers from the EU

In a company press release regarding the creation of jobs and boost in revenue, the UK and Ireland MD, Dan Warne, stated ‘We look forward to building on this success and helping more restaurants across the country reach new customers’.
